On August 30, 2026 TWO THOUSAND people will gather at Recess in the West Loop to take part in setting the world record for “Largest Mass of People Taking a Shot of Malort at the Same Time” to raise money for Ravenswood Community Services.
Here is where you come in.
Now it’s time for the Chicago art scene to participate in a project that is equal parts prestigious, philanthropic, and—in true Chicago fashion—a little bit masochistic.
We want to turn Malört’s infamous bottle into a works of art. We are looking for local artists to take a standard 750ml Malört bottle and “alter” it into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece for our charity raffle.
The Mission:
- The Medium: One glass Malört bottle.
- The Method: Anything goes. Paint it, sculpt around it, turn it into a lamp, enclose it in a tiny wooden cage…. Whatever your style, we want the “spirit” of Chicago to shine through.
- The Cause: Your donated piece will be raffled off, with proceeds from your specific piece going to Ravenswood Community Services to help provide meals and groceries to our neighbors in need.
Why Participate?
Aside from the cosmic karma of feeding your neighbors, your work will be featured prominently at a sold-out event attended by thousands of Malört enthusiasts (and survivors). We’ll be promoting the artists across our social media and website, giving your talent the spotlight it deserves.
We’ll provide the bottle; you provide the vision.
